Join us on Tuesday, August 27th at 7pm for a webinar and learn about threats from so-called "forever chemicals" in your waters and communities, based on data Wild Virginia has acquired from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and municipal wastewater authorities. DEQ has not released this information to the general public or used it in regulatory decisions and it is important that people know of its existence and join in demanding that the substances be controlled.
The data shows that large amounts of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are being discharged from industrial plants and sewage treatment plants to streams around the state. The threats from these pollution releases are especially great because PFAS persist and concentrate in fish and other organisms, as well as in humans, making any measurable discharges unacceptable.
