C’ville Arts Features: Ben Greenberg’s Favorite Photographs of the Natural World of America
Ben Greenberg, well-known Virginia photographer of landscapes, wildlife and nature, will be C’ville Arts’ Featured Artist for the month of September, with the opening of the show to be held on First Friday, September 5th from 5-8 pm on Charlottesville’s historic Downtown Mall.
Ben will share his favorite photographs from the past 25 years, a period that began after a transformative trip to Maine inspired him to focus his cameras on the natural world. Since then, he has photographed over twenty states, capturing dramatic scenes and wildlife. While he primarily showcases his Virginia photographs in the gallery, Ben will take this opportunity to bring his favorites from across the country to the forefront. He hopes his images help people appreciate the importance of the natural world to humanity’s well-being.
During his travels, Ben has photographed the remarkable beauty of our nation, including at least twenty national parks and many public lands. He describes his best photos as those that represent the essence of nature at its finest with dramatic conditions, magical light and unexpected happenings. Ben acknowledges that sometimes luck allows him to be in the right place at the right time, and his experience helps him seize these opportunities to capture memorable images that move us emotionally.
Ben’s dedication to nature photography deepened before his move to Charlottesville, where he joined C’ville Arts Cooperative Gallery in 2003. He values the gallery’s support for giving him a platform to share his passion and is proud to have assisted the meaningful work of environmental nonprofit organizations in Virginia by sharing his photographs.
Ben’s work is well known through his successful coffee table book, Natural Virginia, his sales of his photographs in galleries, shops and arts and crafts shows, his popular presentations to groups and camera clubs, and his websites, www.bengreenberg.com and www.naturalvirginiabook.com.
