Downtown Mall: Recollections Through the Decades
Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026 and we'd love to hear your memories and recollections! The City of Charlottesville Historic Resources Committee (HRC) and Friends of Charlottesville Downtown are inviting community members to share their personal stories, memories, and photographs connected to this iconic public space.
The goal of this storytelling project is to document and preserve the lived experiences of a diverse cross-section of the community, highlighting the many ways the Downtown Mall has evolved over the past five decades – and to hear your hopes for the future.
