After the success of his critically acclaimed 2023 album Family Ties, Charles Wesley Godwin focused on his songwriting, writing nearly 30 songs in 2024, leading to the release of his 7-track EP Lonely Mountain Town. The EP, which Godwin describes as a more contemplative project, features songs inspired by moments from his travels and a traditional country songwriting approach. The EP includes the cathartic title track, the blue-collar story "It's Her Move," and the collaborative "Dead To Rights" with ERNEST. Godwin also embraced creative freedom, working with musicians he admires, including Scott Avett on a cover of Jason Molina’s “Hammer Down.” With a renewed sense of independence and confidence, Godwin continues to tour and create music that stays true to his artistic vision.
