Charlottesville native singer-songwriter Chloë Ester pours herself entirely into each of her distinctively devastating songs informed by indie, emo, punk, electronica, and pop influences. She delivers crushingly vulnerable lyrics with a clear, magnetic voice and blistering directness, obsessing over fear, trauma, love, and its absence in the charmingly sarcastic and self-deprecating manner that has earned her the moniker ‘Melanchloë’ in the local music scene.
“lighthearted” is an alternative, folk band based in Athens, Georgia. The band typically consists of five members with songs ranging from soft and contemplative to upbeat and groovy. Ethan Fogus of Immersive Atlanta said it best: "lighthearted is the songwriting venture of twin sisters Gracie Huffman and Eliza Lemmon. Featuring Win Cawthorne (electric guitar), Toni Hunlo (drums), and Aidan Hill (bass), the Athens quintet writes the type of hushed, kaleidoscopic songs that appeal to anyone that takes to gorgeous harmonies and plumbing the depths of human nature. Together, the band make perfect music for any long, introspective drive" (Read full article here). Twin sisters Eliza and Gracie have been playing music together since they can remember, but the band officially formed in 2019. They have been fine-tuning their debut album, releasing four singles in the process that span timbres from introspective and chill to fresh and buoyant. Most recently, they released "again & again," which was added to Spotify editorial playlists "Fresh Finds," "Fresh Finds Indie," and "Fresh Finds Folk." This is the last single off of their upcoming debut album, “from here on out,” that released on April 21st, 2023.
when you meet va based multi-instrumentalist Ryan Lee, you quickly realize that the name of his solo project, trout baseline, as well as the music that comes out of it isn't a front - it is who Ryan really is. never an inauthentic representation of himself, Ryan's identity as trout baseline has slowly but surely developed over a decade of performing as a producer/arranger and sideman for various groups, priming him to flourish into the songwriter and artist before you today.
trout baseline’s new single “So Can I” is not your typical breakup song. Against the sonic backdrop of a club/glam anthem, “So Can I” cuts deep, exploring the “warm goodbye” of a relationship and all the ensuing fallout. The memories and moments carved into the lyrics effortlessly glide between post-relationship introspection and a screw-it-all sense of empowerment. From sex and newfound freedom, to trauma and bitterness, “So Can I” showcases how club anthems about relationships can be more than one dimensional.
